Ah, it's that time of year again when i go to Hawaii to celebrate my birthday. Gotta LOVE those sunsets.
I bought a new digital camera so I would up "Practicing" with it on one of my favorite subjects.
I really love "High-Biscuts" ...... I mean Hibiscus. They're all over Kaua'i the island we were on. In fact all through out the tropics. It's also the state flower
I went with my two best girls. Sharon, my wife on the right and her best friend Joneal on the left
We had two weeks so we went all over the island. There are some really cool churches.
On our way to Kilauea Point Lighthouse. Taking pictures of folks....taking pictures
Ah, there it is
How do you not smile when your on any of the islands in Hawaii?
The insides of lighthouses aren't quite as interesting as the outside. Lots of stairs.
We headed up north to the rainy side of the island past Princeville and Hanalei. We wanted to take the walk to Hanakapia beach. it's a rough two mile walk with no roads to get in or out.
Here's the view as you start heading up the paths
To the left is the northern most side of the island. Way off in the distance is Lehua, a small crescent shaped island just west of Kaua'i and north of Ni'ihau, the forbidden island.
Getting to the bottom and end of the hike
Wow, we came all that way?
At last the beach, the final destination before turning back.
Wallua Falls
Right across the street from our time-share is the best snorkeling on the whole island. We were really blessed to have some "Visitors" in the water.
I didn't do too badly with my little digital camera either.
These pictures were taken by a fella who was also staying at out time-share. Tim had an underwater camera that worked great. Now remember, were only in 3 to 4 feet of water, you could literally stand up to breath here. That's how close these guys got to shore.
Some of these "Critters" get so close to shore that they want to work on their "Tans"
Now what is Hawaii without "Hula Girls"
Cathy & Steve, her brother, as a lot of you know, is the bass player in my band Johnny Alexander.
Birthday night. Somebody bring more wine. :-)
Me and jo. On the left is Galye who is a good buddy and a local who helps us find our way around.
Gawd we love this place
A display in Hilo Hattie where all the tourist can get their fill of souvenirs. Guess you could say this is "The End"
'nuff said I'll plant you now and dig you later Dave |
