Flags Of The United States

July 2009

HAPPY SUMMER !

As Summer gets closer to us, we get such "Holly Daze" as Memorial Day, Flag Day & The 4th of July. Speaking of thse "Holly" Daze, I thought I'd have a little fun and share the Flags of each of the 50 states. I put these Flags in the order that the states, well..... BECAME states. We all tend to think that the thirteen original colonies all became the U.S.A. on July 4th, 1776 ... NOT SO ! Actually, the Revolutionary war did not end until 1782. The United States Constitution was ratified on Sept. 17th, 1787.

It's real interesting to see just how long these individual state governments to actualy decide to unite as a country. I hope this is as much of a fun history lesson for you as it was for me. I'll be adding to this page in the days to come.

DELAWARE

Delawarre was the first of the original thirteen colonies to ratify the constitution thus making it the very first state. It happened on Dec. 7th, 1787. Even though this state had slavery, it chose to not secede form the union during the "War Between The States" ......ah........"Civil War"
