Dave Crimmen, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air , 45 RPM

Dave's back with another nice single. Side A is an ode to a turquoise blue '57 Chevy, and the piture sleeve shows Dave with a guitar shaped like the fin, and painted the same color in front of the machine itself. That side is Rockabilly/Rock 'n' Roll and the B side is an instro tune, says it's "From the Film 'Johnny Rocker'". -I hope somebody sends us the DVD for review! Dave's had significant success placing his original tunes into prime-time T.V. and similar venues. I watched one made for TV film with Sissy Spacek and Beau Bridges that had his music coming from the radio in a scene. Both sides sound great! www.davecrimmen.com

Dave Crimmen, Big Daddy D , CD/Album

This is Dave Crimmen's third CD release and the jury is in. It's begining to look like there's a new sheriff in town and his name is Big daddy "D". It is the rockers on this new release like "Rockin' Bop Baby" (dedicated to Kay Wheeler) and "Revved Up" that set the tone. But like always, Dave upstages himself with his ow original ballads. Songs like "Come On" and "When She Was Mine", and backing up Dave on background vocals are the great Jordanares (Elvis' former back up singers) out of Nashville, Tennessee. It is these original songs that recall the heyday of early '60s ballad singers like Jack Scott. All 10 on this release are written by Dave Crimmen and the release is on collge radio playlists coast to coast. This is your chance to check out this new CD and see what all the excitement is about! Burning Tyger Records, P.O. Box 2213, Daly City, Ca. 94017, (650) 589-5852. HEPCAT

Dave Crimmen, Revved Up , 45 RPM

The new vinyl 45 RPM from this bay area rocker is a two headed monster. The A-side "Revved Up" is maybe this year's rockabilly anthem. A rocker that burns down the highway of life, California style.. In fact I can almost see James dean pulling his car over on the shoulder of Highway 101 to let this rocker pass! Great lyrics, music and attitude. B-side "Careless Kisses" written in 1950 by Tim Spenser for Red Foley, who had a big hit with this country classic. The tune was the all time favorite of Crimmen's dad. Otis. This is to honor his memory. Dave does a super job and yes, Mr. D can sing great country too! Burning Tyger Music, P.O. Box 2213, Daly City, Ca. 94017. (650) 589-5852

Dave Crimmen, Rockin' Bop Baby, 45 RPM

1) "Rockin' Bop Baby" - Dave Crimmen wrote this song as a tribute to Kay Wheeler (if you don't know, Kay dated Elvis Presley in the 1950's and was a dancer in the '50s drive-in classic Rock Baby Rock It). The song is a real rocker that shows that Crimmen is a real talent.

2) "Been There, Done that" - A mid-tempo rocker that's a real mover. Singer Dave Crimmen is very good at ballads and mid-tempo songs. This 45 is a hot piece of genuine Americana circa year 2000. Burning Tyger Records, P.O. Box 2213, Daly City, Ca. 94017. (650) 589-5852 check HEPCAT

The 4th Annual Greaseball San Francisco, California

The 1998 four day Greaseball was presented once again by August Ragone and was the best rockabilly event yet in this city of the Bay. If you don't count Tom Ingram's Viva Las Vegas in Nevada, this rockabilly rave may be America's best week-ender and the world's best kept secret, at least here in the United States. One thing is certain, the musical line-up and club setting were once again outstanding. The first two nights were preparties held at Cafe Du-Nord on Market Street. Thursday night was Dave Crimmen with Slo Gin Joes' Frank Noviki on Bass. This was a great show. Recently Dave Crimmen had one of his songs used on the television show Melrose Place, in fact Dave told me he made $1,500.00 watching the boob tube. Dave Crimmen has also had two songs used recently in movies! This guy is cooking with gas on the TV and movie soundtrack scene at the current moment. Crimmen looks twenty years younger in person than in his promo pictures and is a smiley and happy-friendly guy, who always seems to look like a serial killer on his record and CD covers. Dave has a song out called "Dancin' Shoes" that is ( if you will pardon the pun ) an absolute killer tune. All his vinyl releases are good, so check them out...

Dave Crimmen, Where He Left Off CD/Album

Dave Crimmen is back with another new CD, and it sounds like he's been having a lot of success.  Hementioned that a couple of these songs have been picked up for movies and TV - the opening track "Take Me Baby" is in the Michael Douglas/Sean Penn film "The Game", so that sounds pretty successful to me!  Dave's sound is still on the rockabilly side of rock, but with electric bass, and he keeps the themes where they should be, girls and rockin'.  He even throws in a couple slow dance numbers!  There's also an instrumental tune, so it's a well rounded program.

Dave Crimmen, Let It Rock, 45 RPM

"Let It Rock" - Great rocker from the San Francisco Bay Area, Dave Crimmen is. This man knows how to rock and the coolest part is he knows how to preach to the unconverted and that takes real talent. A must for any rockabilly collection just for this one song written by Dave. "Rockabilly Rave" - A tasty instrumental, also a Dave Crimmen song.

Dave Crimmen, The Son of Sun CD/Album

Dave Crimmen was recommended to us by a reader who said his new CD was one of the 3 or 4 best in his collection of 300 rockabilly CDs and LPs.  So we called Dave and got hold of it.  I'd describe Dave's music on this CD as a "missing link" between rockabilly and the Rolling Stones.   The implication of the title suggests something along those lines, too, although the Beatles were more Sun influenced and the Stones more Chess Records (you can definitely hear the Chuck Berry influence on Dave's "Miss Lonely").  The music is rockin', and some tunes definitely verge into the early Stones territory (particularly "She Turns Me On").  The electric guitar is probably the Les Paul he's holding in one of the pictures, which is a sort of '60s sound, as opposed to the hollow body single coil pickup sound.  I talked for a while with Dave, and he talked about how his band gigs regularly in situations where they might just have to play anything, and once honored a request for "Inna Gadda Da Vida" in Denver, resulting in a free pitcher of beer from the bartender who explained it was kind of a joke to request that tune in the first place, but they were the first band to ever know the song.  The 12 tunes are all Dave's, I also hear a bit of Creedence influence - and they were definately Sun Records influenced, along with the major Slim Harpo/Excello/Specialty records influences.  The band also features some hot piano playing.  A couple of the tunes are also on a new 45.  He also has a picture sleeve 45 of "If You Say Yes" b/w "Dancin' Shoes", and a new 45 coming out soon, with "Let It Rock" (an original, not the Chuck Berry tune) b/s "Rockabily Rave".   It's good stuff, we've got cassette.  Burning Tyger Music, P.O. Box 2213, Daly City, CA  94017.
